OPC- Thursday

Another great day at camp! A little less hot than the past few days which has made for mild wonderful weather.

This morning we worked on two different craft projects. When our deployed parents are away they can have sweet dreams falling asleep on their new beautifully decorated pillow cases!  Campers worked hard to color pictures write messages and lovingly create designs to remind parents of love and fun stuff from home!

After the pillow cases campers worked on a very cool service project with the theme “kids serve too”. First campers created a flag with paint and popsicle sticks. On the back of the flag they wrote a message of encouragement to a child whose parents are deployed. Once they finished that part of the project they created a kit with sticks stars and blank paper (all the parts to make another flag project). Those kits will go to the same kids so that they can make a project and send it on to a different kid (the “pay it forward” concept).

After lunch campers were busy with activities- swimming arts and crafts fishing canoeing archery etc. The weather was a little cooler today making it the perfect day for sports and games!

Tonight is the FABULOUS talent show!!! Catholic Youth Camp is well known for having the most talented campers around. We are not CYC this week we are OPC-McGregor however it didn’t matter because once again we had the MOST talented bunch of kids share their talents! There was singing dancing comedy skits and more! So many wonderful performances made for a night of entertainment and fun!

There is still more fun tomorrow as we wrap up the week. We are excited for the closing ceremony capture the flag and family day!

"What camp means to me is learning about God, making friends and having fun. But the most important thing is being yourself. We have lots of fun at camp. The counselors are great, the friends are nice, the themes are awesome, and the games rule! When I grow too old to come to camp I want to be a camp counselor, but for now, I will enjoy the fun at camp. See you this year!" - Josh
