Tuesday All Star Week

Today was absolutely perfect weather- ideal for a fun day of camp! We began the day with polar bear plunge breakfast (scrambled eggs and bacon) morning chapel (charity was the ‘C’ of the day) and two hours of cabin activities. Cabins were canoeing playing sports working on arts and crafts and many other things.

Our activity before lunch was a game called Eagle’s Nest which basically involves running around the field grabbing balls from either side to bring the "eggs" back to the team nests. It sound complicated but it was very fun and very intense! Then it was time for lunch which was hot ham and cheese and chicken noodle soup. Rest time was much needed (we’re staying busy!).

This afternoon was gorgeous sunny and a perfect day for being at camp! The art group was busy making nail art (hammering nails into a board into a design and then wrapping sting to make intricate designs) campfire cooking was making donuts over the fire (cinnamon sugary goodness!) and choir was getting their act ready for the talent show and also preparing a song to teach at chapel. It was a perfect day for canoeing- there wasn’t a bit of wind and the lake was like glass.

Dinner was taco night! It was a fantastic fiesta of yumminess!

Cabin free time after dinner gave cabins a chance to perfect their talent show acts skip rocks at the beach make some craft projects play soccer and relax after a long day. After that it was time to raise the roof in praise and worship- singing so loud you could probably hear us across the lake!

Our spirit was so great and our voices were warmed up so it made sense to head down to the Friendship Circle for a campfire! We sang tons of songs each cabin performed their cabin cheer we did the traditional CYC cheer and then we made some yummy s’mores!

Camp Director Natalie is expecting a baby in November and later this week she is finding out if it is a boy or a girl. At the campfire she told everyone that during heads/meds/beds (while campers take showers and brush their teeth) that they could vote to guess boy or girl! Check out their guesses!

"To me Catholic Youth Camp is a place I can be myself and know others will not judge me. Plus it is a place where I can learn more about my religion and proclaim it to the world freely." - JP
