Why Work at Summer Camp

If you’re facing another summer of the same job at home…think again. Working at Camp is one of the most rewarding summer jobs imaginable. The impact you have on campers can change their lives as well as yours. The friends you will make will last a lifetime.

Each summer we ask our potential summer staff"Why do you want to work at camp?" The answers are generally focused on "impacting the lives of kids" as well as "I want to do something different this summer." However no one seems to say "Because I need to make a lot of money for school/books/housing etc." It’s true camp doesn’t pay as much as working at the mall or the local fast food place but Camp isn’t about what you put in your bank account at the end of the summer. It’s all about what you put into your mind and your soul. Working at camp is about personal growth and development quality relationships overall camp community excellence in a job well done and most of all the most fun you can have in a 10-week time frame.

No matter what camp you choose the camp should be accredited by the American Camping Association and most of all you should feel that camp is a good "fit" for you. If you love being with children being a mentor acting goofy most of the time but knowing when to be serious enjoy the outdoors OK with little to no privacy making most amazing friendships and most of all being able to walk away at the end of 10 weeks saying "How do I get to be on staff again next year?" then camp is for you!

"What camp means to me is learning about God, making friends and having fun. But the most important thing is being yourself. We have lots of fun at camp. The counselors are great, the friends are nice, the themes are awesome, and the games rule! When I grow too old to come to camp I want to be a camp counselor, but for now, I will enjoy the fun at camp. See you this year!" - Josh
